Mark Austin Pacing Series kicks off Sunday at Dresden Raceway

The Mark Austin Pacing Series kicks off this Sunday at Dresden Raceway with two Divisions of The Mark Austin Pacing Series.

The series for non-winners of one race or $5,000 (F&M $6,000) as of midnight March 31, 2021 honours local trainer Mark Austin who died suddenly in 2014.

Austin was a premier trainer in Ontario with several top level horses.

Thirty-Nine horses paid into the series that will race for a final purse of $15,900 on July 4 but only 12 entered for this week’s first leg.

Shadow Warrior is the morning line favourite for the first division of pacers.

The three-year-old Shadow Play gelding is owned by Chris Cain and Keith Cullen who are trying to repeat after winning the Asutin Series final last year with Dreaming Out Loud.

Cullen does the training while Alfie Carroll is the driver.

Rob Nobes and Fergus and Greg Holmes of Bayfield are the owners of the second division favourite Shes A Comedian. The three-year-old Hes Watching filly will have Carroll at the controls and is trained by Randy Marriage.

There are 11 races slated for Sunday at Dresden with a 1 p.m. post time.

You can check out the races using the link on their website www.dresdenraceway.ca and wager at HPIbet, Twin Spires and TVG.
