COVID-19 vaccine clinic taking place in Wallaceburg on Thursday

A COVID-19 vaccine community clinic, hosted at the Wallaceburg site of the Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres located at 808 Dufferin Avenue, is being held on Thursday July 15, 2021.

The clinic will be administering:

– Moderna vaccine eligibility: First Dose: Anyone from the public aged 18 years and older. Second dose: Anyone from the public aged 18 years and older – 28 days after Pfizer or Moderna, 8 weeks after AstraZeneca (eligible if you had first dose of AstraZeneca before May 20)

– Pfizer vaccine eligibility: First Dose: Anyone from the public ages 12-17 years old. Second Dose: Anyone from the public ages 12-17 years old – 28 days after Pfizer

It is encouraged to book an appointment by calling 519-397-5455 ext. 113.

Walk-in appointments will also be accepted based on vaccine availability.

The clinic will run from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will be open to those seeking first and second doses.

“Getting vaccinated at a local community pop-up clinic is easy,” said Dr. Vishal Chawla, primary care vaccination lead, in a media release.

“From the time you walk in to the time you walk out is typically less than 30 minutes.”

The COVID-19 vaccine community clinics are being delivered via a partnership with Tilbury District Family Health Team, Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres, Chatham-Kent Family Health Team, Thamesview Family Health Team, Medavie EMS Ontario, Chatham-Kent Ontario Health Team and supported by Chatham-Kent Public Health.

Also, the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit officials updated their ‘current status’ page of their website on Wednesday, July 14, 2021.

Public health officials say an estimated 75% of Chatham-Kent’s population 18 + have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 55% have receives two doses.

A total of 48% of Chatham-Kent youth, ages 12-17, have received at least one dose.

A total of 114,105 doses have been administered to date, 68,352 people 12+ have received at least one dose and 48,371 people 12+ have received two doses.

The active COVID-19 case count sits at nine.

The total number of COVID-19 cases sits at 1,894 across Chatham-Kent.

CK Public Health officials say no one is hospitalized with COVID-19 from Chatham-Kent.

A total of 1,868 cases have been resolved.

There are currently zero active outbreaks.

Four of the active cases are linked to close contact, three are linked to travel, one case has information pending and one is unknown.

CK Public Health officials say a total of 250 Chatham-Kent residents have had COVID-19 with a variant of concern or related mutation.

A total of 118,907 tests for the virus have been completed to date.

Since the pandemic began last March, a total of 17 people from Chatham-Kent have died from COVID-19.
