The parking lot at Dover Beach Park in Mitchell’s Bay will have a asphalt speed humps installed, after a motion by North Kent Councillor Jamie McGrail was approved by Council on Monday, July 12, 2021.

McGrail said she brought the idea forward in an effort to reduce the speed of vehicles entering and exiting the parking lot.

“Council’s priorities and strategic direction for this term includes community wellness, everyone is safe and able to thrive,” McGrail said in her motion.

“Council’s priorities and strategic direction for this term includes growth, expand infrastructure related to recreational facilities. These priorities include a dedicated focus on ensuring safe transportation through active transportation options.”

McGrail said costs associated with the installation of the speed humps are not to exceed $2,500 and will be funded through the park lot lifecycle reserve.

North Kent Councillor Joe Faas entered a motion to defer the motion back to staff for more information.

However, Faas’ motion was defeated.
