Man Charged with Drug Possession

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to the report of a suspicious man in a vehicle parked at a business on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Officers located the man sitting in his vehicle in possession of suspected fentanyl.

A Standard Field Sobriety Test was conducted and the man failed.

A 31-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with drug possession and issued a 3-day license suspension.

He was released pending a future court date of August 19, 2021.

Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE)

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, members of Community Patrol conducted a RIDE spot check on Erieau Road.

Approximately 30 vehicles were stopped and checked with no infractions observed.

The Chatham-Kent Police would like to remind motorists that driving while impaired can change your life in an instant.

Stolen Truck in Thamesville

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Saturday at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday at 9:30 a.m. unknown suspects stole a red 2006 Dodge Ram pick-up truck from a residence on Kent Bridge Road.

The truck was last seen with Ontario license plates 654 6WK.

Break and Enter in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between last night at 8:30 p.m. and this morning at 3:00 a.m. unknown suspects entered a residence on Grand Avenue West and stole prescription medication.

Damage to the residence was estimated at $1500.

Police Investigating Collision in Blenheim

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon around 2:30 p.m. police responded to a collision on Chatham Street South between Snow Avenue and Stefina Line in Blenheim.

Through investigation, police learned that the man lost control of his vehicle in an attempt to avoid a motorcycle.

The man left the roadway and came to rest in the ditch.

He was not physically injured.

Total damage was estimated at $1000.

The 19-year-old Blenheim man was charged with careless driving.

Police are trying to identify the motorcycle and driver who was travelling northbound on Chatham Street South at this time.

Warrant Arrests

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, while on general patrol, police located a male on Bloomfield Road in Chatham that was currently wanted by the Chatham-Kent Police Service for; mischief, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

A 30 year-old Chatham man was arrested and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday evening, while on general patrol, police located a female on Chestnut Drive in the town of Wallaceburg that was currently wanted by the Chatham-Kent Police Service for failing to attend court.

The 40 year old Walpole Island female was arrested and later released with a future court date.

Break and Enter into Residence in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime in the past week, unknown suspects gained entry into a residence on West Street in the city of Chatham.

Once inside, the suspects removed approximately $2,000 worth of Jewelry, tools, and a computer.
