Active COVID-19 case count at 103, new workplace outbreak declared

Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit officials updated their ‘current status’ page of their website on Wednesday, September 8, 2021.

The active COVID-19 case count has risen to 103, five more than on Tuesday.

Public health officials say 72.1% of the active cases are unvaccinated, 13.6% are partially vaccinated, 7.9% are fully vaccinated and 6.4% are unknown. These figures were last updated on August 28, 2021, public health officials say.

A total of 10 people with COVID-19 from Chatham-Kent are hospitalized, one more than on Tuesday.

The total number of COVID-19 cases is 2,146 across Chatham-Kent, 19 more than on Tuesday.

A total of 2,026 cases have been resolved.

A total of 59 active cases are linked to close contact, 20 cases have information pending, 16 cases are unknown, seven cases are outbreak related and one case is linked to travel.

A new un-named workplace outbreak was announced by public health officials on Wednesday.

The outbreak was first declared on September 7, 2021 and involves four total cases.

An outbreak at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, within the Medicine A Unit of hospital in Chatham, remains active.

The outbreak was first declared on September 6, 2021 and involved two total cases.

A community outbreak at an un-named congregate living setting was declared over on Tuesday, September 7, 2021.

CK Public Health officials say the Delta variant continues to be the predominant circulating variant of concern in Chatham-Kent and Ontario.

“The majority of current cases among people living in CK have initial mutation screening results in line with the Delta variant,” public health officials added.

Public health officials say a total of 138,147 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to date, 73,591 people 12+ have received at least one dose and 67,380 people 12+ have received two doses.

A total of 127,563 tests for the virus have been completed to date.

Since the pandemic began last March, a total of 17 people from Chatham-Kent have died from COVID-19.
