Men charged with domestic related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Monday, the man and his ex-common-law wife engaged in a verbal argument which escalated into a physical altercation.

Through investigation, police learned that this was not the first incident of domestic violence during their relationship.

Yesterday morning, the 36-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with criminal harassment, two counts of assault and two counts of uttering threats.

He was also arrested on an outstanding Highway Traffic Act warrant.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing and released with a future court date of September 28, 2021.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police received information about a domestic disturbance that occurred throughout the previous evening while the couple were camping in the Blenheim area.

Through investigation, police learned that during a verbal argument, the man assaulted this girlfriend, damaged her phone and threatened her.

Officers located the man and he was taken into custody.

The 40-year-old Highgate man has been charged with assault causing bodily harm, mischief under $5000 and uttering threats.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman charged with being intoxicated in a public place

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 10:30 p.m. last night, police responded to a family dispute in Wallaceburg.

Through investigation, police learned that an intoxicated woman left the home, following a verbal argument with family members.

Officers located the woman in a nearby park.

For her own safety, the woman was taken into custody as she was unable to care for herself.

The 21-year-old woman has been charged with being intoxicated in a public place.

She will be released when sober.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, members of the Traffic Unit conducted speed enforcement in the area of community safety zones around schools in Chatham.

A total of 15 motorists were stopped and charged with speeding.

Three motorists were charged with illegally parking in the area of schools.

We would like to remind everyone that officers will be monitoring community safety zones as kids return to school to ensure their safety.
