Aarkel hosting COVID-19 vaccine clinic in Wallaceburg, active case count at 113 in C-K

Aarkel Tool & Die Inc. in Wallaceburg have opened up their clinic on Wednesday, September 22 to the public.

Public health officials say it’s taking place at ‘Plant 1’, which is at 17 Elm Drive South in Wallaceburg.

The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit has scheduled two other upcoming COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics at Wallaceburg District Secondary School and Lambton-Kent Composite School School in Dresden.

Caress Lee Carpenter, community outreach and public relation officer for CK Public Health, told the Sydenham Current the clinics are for students and families, then will be open to the public.

Carpenter added if these dates and times don’t work for people, they can visit ckpublichealth.com/clinics for other opportunities to receive a vaccination.

Carpenter said there are mobile clinics available and opportunities at some local pharmacies as well.

Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit officials updated their ‘current status’ page of their website on Friday, September 17, 2021.

The active COVID-19 case count has dropped to 113, one less than on Thursday.

Public health officials say 71.1% of the active cases are unvaccinated, 9.1% are partially vaccinated, 9.1% are unknown, 8.3% are fully vaccinated and 2.4% are not yet protected. These figures are as of September 11, 2021, public health officials say.

A total of 16 people with COVID-19 from Chatham-Kent are hospitalized.

The total number of COVID-19 cases is 2,286 across Chatham-Kent, 17 more than on Thursday.

A total of 2,137 cases have been resolved.

A total of 64 active cases are linked to close contact, 25 cases are unknown, 15 cases have information pending and 11 cases are outbreak related.

An outbreak at Praise Fellowship Church, located at 165 Park Avenue East in Chatham, remains actives and involves 10 cases.

An outbreak in the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Rehab Unit, remains active and involves three cases.

CK Public Health officials say the Delta variant continues to be the predominant circulating variant of concern in Chatham-Kent and Ontario.

“The majority of current cases among people living in CK have initial mutation screening results in line with the Delta variant,” public health officials added.

Public health officials say a total of 141,145 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to date, 75,048 people 12+ have received at least one dose and 68,827 people 12+ have received two doses.

A total of 130,608 tests for the virus have been completed to date.

Since the pandemic began in March of 2020, a total of 17 people from Chatham-Kent have died from COVID-19.
