Lianne Rood, Member of Parliament for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex, was appointed the Conservative Shadow Minister for Rural Economic Development and Rural Broadband Strategy as part of the new Conservative Shadow Cabinet announced on Tuesda, November 9, 2021.
“I am honoured to serve as the Opposition Shadow Minister for Rural Economic Development and Rural Broadband Strategy,: Rood said in a media release.
“We are all Canadians regardless of where we live, and we are all deserving of equal representation. There has been an imbalance in prioritization from this Liberal government, and it is unacceptable that rural Canadians are being left behind.”
Rood added: “Over the coming months, I look forward to speaking with rural Canadians from coast to coast to coast, getting a firsthand account of their needs. In my riding of Lambton-Kent-Middlesex and beyond, Canadians are tired of inaction and empty promises from this Liberal government, and I will fight for the issues that are important to them.”
Rood was first elected in 2019, and previously served as Shadow Minister for Agriculture and Agri-Food, where she became the most lobbied Conservative in parliament, a press release indicated.
Building from her hands-on experience, she knows the necessity of a defined plan for rural broadband and rural community growth.
In her new role, she will continue to be the strong voice that rural Canadians deserve, a press release from Rood’s office states.
