Man charged with assault police
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a disturbance in a parking lot in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that the man purposely stood in front of a cement truck travelling on Park Avenue West.
The driver was forced to slam on his brakes, narrowly missing the man.
The driver pulled into a nearby parking lot and confronted the man about his dangerous behaviour.
At this time, the man spit in the driver’s face.
The man walked away and punched another person standing in the area.
As police arrived, the man provided the officers with a false name.
As his true identity was revealed, the man threw his mask into the driver’s seat of a police cruiser and attempted to reach for an officer’s conductive energy weapon (taser).
A 34-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with obstruct police, assault police, attempt to disarm a police officer and two counts of assault.
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing and remanded until November 10, 2021.
Arrest leads to drug charges
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On October 31, 2021 a woman was released from custody with several conditions.
One of those conditions stated that she was not to communicate with a specific Chatham man.
Yesterday morning, police located the pair together at a business in Chatham.
The woman was arrested and upon being searched was found to be in possession of stolen property from a local pharmacy along with suspected methamphetamine and psilocybin.
She was also arrested on outstanding warrants.
The 29-year-old Chatham woman was charged with failing to comply with her release conditions, theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000 and two counts of drug possession.
She was held in custody pending a bail hearing and remanded until November 15, 2021.
Pair charged with domestic related offences
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that during an argument, the man threatened the woman and the woman assaulted the man.
The 34-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with uttering threats.
He was released pending a future court date of December 8, 2021.
The 30-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with assault.
She was released pending a future court date of December 8, 2021.
Stolen ATV in Dresden
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday, sometime between 5:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. unknown suspects stole a white, orange and black 2021 Coleman AT125-EX youth ATV from a garage on North Street.
A matte black ATV helmet was also stolen.
