Another step along the ‘Journey to Christmas’

By Sharon Campbell Rayment – Special to the Sydenham Current

One more step along the journey we go!

We are five weeks until Christmas!

Oh, I know! I know! Must you remind us of the chaos to come Sharon? We haven’t even hit Advent yet!

I have shared that Trinity is on a journey: “The Journey to Christmas.”

We are taking a sacred journey that finds Christmas within you.

A journey within connecting to the Essence of God, Immanuel with us.

Sensing the essence of God within we know we are not alone.

Oh, in the crowded mall you may pray for silence, less people, and to just be anywhere else but where you are.

Yet God is in the moment. Where you are. Always near.

Present to you whenever you pause, pause to just Be.

“Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)

There are many ways to interpret this saying that God shared with Elijah at his lowest moment hiding in a cave.

For me it is not just to be physically still. I believe we can be in action and “Be still and know that I am God.”

For instance, when I walk the labyrinth, or use the finger labyrinth, I am moving, embodying prayer, quieting my mind, and awaken my spirit.

Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, you can pause your racing mind and remind yourself of God’s Essence within you.

The Essence that brings you inner peace.

“Peace that surpasses all understanding.” (Phil 4:7)

It is a peace that is not contingent on what we have, what we do, or who we are.

When we pause our frantic thoughts. Just for a moment. We gain perspective, we know inner peace, and open our eyes to see beyond ourselves.

It is a peace that can help you to be present, to be grounded, to be compassion, to be love.

Jesus often withdrew to pray. This time overflowed into his daily life to be compassion in action, love in motion, hope shared with all.

Today set your phone to remind you to pause. To connect within, sense God’s Essence, and find inner calm as we continue our “Journey to Christmas.”

Until next time my friends remember every breath you take is a breath of God and a shared one with All our Relations United as One.
