Mischief leads to two additional charges
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon police were notified of a disturbance in the area of McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg.
A male party was causing a disturbance; demanding entry onto the bus, punching the bus and pulling off the windshield wiper.
The 29 year old Wallaceburg man was arrested for one count of Mischief under $5,000.
The accused was searched incident to arrest and police located a small baggie with suspected methamphetamine; subsequently the accused was additionally charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Through further investigation, police learned the accused was previously released and placed on conditions to not “possess or consume unlawful drugs and substances without valid prescription”.
The accused was notified of the additional charge of Fail to Comply with Release Order and transported to police headquarters where he was held for bail.
Theft and possession
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday evening police were dispatched to the Superstore in Chatham.
The accused, a 44-year-old Chatham man was observed selecting approximately $800 worth of items, placing the items into his shopping cart and exiting the store, with no attempts to pay for the items.
Police identified the man from video surveillance and located him nearby.
The accused was arrested for one count of Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.
The accused was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters and released with a future court date of March 25, 2022.
Traffic enforcement
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At approximately 4 p.m. yesterday afternoon a member of the Traffic Unit observed a silver SUV speeding in the area of Middle Line; the officer subsequently issued a traffic stop.
The male driver, an 18-year-old Chatham man, was issued two Provincial Offence Notices for Speeding and Drive No Licence, contrary to The Highway Traffic Act.
The passenger of the vehicle a 51-year-old Chatham woman was issues a Provincial Offence Notice for Permit Unlicensed Person to Drive Motor Vehicle, contrary to The Highway Traffic Act.
