Clinics being held to catch students up on missed immunizations

As a result of the ongoing pandemic, many Chatham-Kent students currently in Grades 7, 8, and 9 have missed out on the opportunity to receive their school-based immunizations.

“Students are due to receive their Meningococcal, Hepatitis B, and Human Papillomavirus vaccines in seventh grade,” said Kymberly Logan, CK Public Health Nurse, in a media release.

“Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to administer the shots in schools over the last couple of years as our team has been deployed to assist with the emergent response to COVID-19.”

In an attempt to get students in need caught up, clinics are being planned for Tuesdays and Thursdays starting Thursday, March 10, CK Public Health officials say.

The clinics will take place at 730 Richmond Street in Chatham, former YA Canada Building behind McDonald’s.

Clinics are by appointment only and must be booked online at www.GetYourShotCK.ca or by calling 519-351-1010.

Current clinic date and times that are open for booking include:

March 10 – 2:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

March 15 – 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

March 17 – 2:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

March 22 – 2:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

March 24 – 2:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Parents booking for their child, or students booking their own appointment are able to book for one, two, or all three of their immunizations at once, CK Public Health officials say.

A parent must accompany any child under 14 to the immunization appointment.

Anyone requiring more information is asked to call the school health intake line at 519-355-1071 ext. 2457 or visit www.CKPublicHealth.com/SchoolShots.
