The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has retained Waterhouse to facilitate the hiring of a Chief Administrative Officer.
“Waterhouse is a well-regarded firm with a proven track record in executive recruitment,” said Mayor Darrin Canniff, in a media release.
The process is expected to take approximately three months, Municipal officials say.
Chris Thibert has been named interim General Manager of Infrastructure Engineering Services, (IES).
Thibert, who has most recently served as the director of Engineering and Transportation within IES, has been employed by the municipality since 2016, Municipal officials say.
Ryan Brown, Director of Public Works within IES, will be accepting increased responsibility regarding the Wheatley gas emission investigation.
“I have every belief that the citizens of Chatham-Kent will be well served by Chris and Ryan during this time of transition,” said CAO Don Shropshire, in a media release.
“The search for a General Manager in IES will begin once we are further along in the CAO search process.”
Shropshire, who announced his retirement last year, remains in his position, Municipal officials added.
As previously reported, in November 2021, it was announced that Thomas Kelly would be the next CAO following incumbent Don Shropshire’s retirement.
As of Thursday, March 17, 2022 Kelly was no longer an employee of the Municipality, Municipal officials said in a media release.
Municipal officials added Chatham-Kent Council would be taking steps in the coming weeks regarding the recruitment of the next CAO.
