TBT: Miguel Cabrera of the Detroit Tigers, 2014

Throwback Thursday is sponsored by the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home in Wallaceburg:

Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera is closing in on an incredible milestone.

With 2,999 career hits, the 39-year-old Cabrera has a chance to join the exclusive 3,000 hit club, which would make him the 33rd player in Major League Baseball history to accomplish the feat.

Cabrera and the Tigers will host the New York Yankees at Comerica Park in Detroit on Thursday, April 21, 2022.

The first pitch is set to be thrown at 1:10 p.m.

At a Tigers game on September 28, 2014, the Sydenham Current snapped the following photos of Cabrera and some of his teammates, prior to Detroit playing the Minnesota Twins. Detroit ended up winning the game 3-0 that day, clinching the American League Central Division for the fourth consecutive year.
