Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On June 12 at 9:35 a.m., emergency crews responded to a fire in the basement of a multi-unit building on Timmins Crescent in Chatham.
The Criminal Investigation Section investigated the incident and determined the woman, who was living at the address at the time, acted carelessly which started the fire.
On June 13, 2022, the 36-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with arson.
She was transported to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date of July 12, 2022.
Fire officials said all occupants were able to escape without injuries including a five-foot python snake. Details, here.
