Heat warning, chance of showers, clearing, high 26°C

Heat warning

A three day heat event is forecast for today through Wednesday.

Maximum temperatures are expected to reach 31 degrees Celsius today. Maximum temperatures are expected to be even hotter on Tuesday and Wednesday, possibly reaching the mid thirties in some places.

Minimum temperatures in the low twenties will bring little relief from the heat during the overnight hours tonight and Tuesday night.

This heat event has the potential to continue into Thursday or even Friday.

Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the Air Quality Health Index approaching the high risk category.

Check on older family, friends and neighbours. Make sure they are cool and drinking water

Reduce your heat risk. Schedule outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.

When it’s hot eat cool, light meals.

Keep your house cool. Block the sun by closing curtains or blinds.

Outdoor workers should take regularly scheduled breaks in a cool place.
