Man arrested for assault with a weapon

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 8:30 p.m., police responded to a disturbance at Shopper’s Drug Mart on Queen Street in Chatham.

Police learned the man verbally argued with the manager and was asked to leave the store.

As the man left the store, he pulled a knife from his pocket, showed it to the manager and made a threatening remark.

The manager locked the door and contacted the police.

The man left the area before police arrived but was located a short distance away.

The 26-year-old Tilbury man was charged with weapons dangerous and assault with a weapon.

He was transported to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date of July 27, 2022.

Woman arrested for Liquor License Act offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 10:19 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on a woman seen pacing on Amelia Street in Thamesville.

The woman was barefoot and in her pajamas.

Police arrived and located the woman.

She was found to be intoxicated and unable to care for herself.

The 35-year-old Chatham woman was transported to police headquarters and held until she was sober.

Woman arrested for possession of stolen property

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 4:14 a.m., police recovered a stolen vehicle on Bruce Street in Wallaceburg, reported by Sarnia Police Service on June 22, 2022.

Upon discovering the vehicle, a woman was found inside.

The 34-year-old Dresden woman was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000.

She was transported to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date of August 2, 2022.

Theft of UTV and Sea-Doos

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On July 2, 2022 at approximately 12:23 a.m., unknown suspects entered the fenced in compound at Delta Power, located at 14 Industrial Park Road in Tilbury.

Once inside, the suspects stole a black and tan 2021 CanAm X3 Turbo valued at $50,000 and two black GTX Limited Seadoos with an aluminum trailer valued at $35,000.

Single motor vehicle collision

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Saturday morning at approximately 10 a.m., police responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision in the area of Queen’s Line and Drake Road.

The driver lost control and struck a hydro pole.

The 25-year-old driver was subsequently charged with Careless Driving and the total damage is estimated at approximately $30,000.

There were no injuries as a result of the collision.

Family dispute leads to charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Saturday afternoon at approximately 5 p.m., police responded to an address on Joseph Street in Chatham regarding a family dispute.

As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old Chatham man was charged with Unlawfully in a Dwelling and Assault.

The man was transported to Police Headquarters and held in custody for a Bail Hearing.

Impaired driving in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On July 1 at 11 a.m. police initiated a traffic stop and through conversation with the driver police detected a smell of alcohol being emitted from the driver’s breath.

A roadside test was completed which the driver failed.

The driver, a 44 year old man from the Greater Toronto Area was then arrested and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters where he was later released with a future court date.
