LTVCA hosting second annual ‘Cultivating Conservation Tour’

On Thursday, September the 8, Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority (LTVCA), will host their second annual ‘Cultivating Conservation Tour’.

This self-guided tour was introduced during the COVID-19 Pandemic as a safe way to network with members of both urban and rural communities.

LTVCA officials say the goal of this interactive tour is to increase awareness about regional environmental issues while providing examples of solutions at actual project sites.

Each Chatham-Kent project with which LTVCA has been involved showcases tree plantings, wetland habitat restoration, native pollinator plantings, donated conservation land, urban stewardship, and agricultural water quality improvement initiatives.

At the tour’s project sites, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about soil health, regional water quality research, woodlot management, marginal land restoration, species at risk and urban low impact development.

Landowners will showcase their properties, offering other landowners opportunities to inquire about the process and success of LTVCA’s stewardship programs.

The ‘Cultivating Conservation Tour’ will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., concluding with a social gathering, dinner and a guest speaker at the Red Barn Brewing Company from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Rob Keen from Forests Ontario will speak about some issues currently top of mind in Chatham-Kent.

Sign up for the dinner at Red Barn Brewing Company on Eventbrite at:

All details and project site locations will be listed on Eventbrite as well.

This event will take place rain or shine, with the exemption of thunderstorms, in which case it will be cancelled.
