OPP: Multiple stunt driving and speeding charges laid in Chatham-Kent

OPP officials allege: On November 15, 2022, at approximately 12:40 p.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle travelling Southbound on Communication Road, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, after it was found speeding 144 Km/h in a posted 80 Km/h zone.

The driver, 21-year-old of Chatham, Ontario was charged with Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – Excessive speed contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

OPP officials allege: On November 19, 2022, at approximately 1:56 p.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle travelling on the Westbound Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, after it was found speeding 158 Km/h in a posted 100 Km/h zone.

The driver, 29-year-old of Brampton, Ontario was charged with Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – Excessive speed contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

OPP officials allege: On November 20, 2022, at approximately 11:55 a.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle travelling Eastbound on Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, after it was found speeding 171 Km/h in a posted 100 Km/h zone.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, 31-year-old of Windsor, Ontario was charged with:

– Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – Excessive speed

– Driving while under suspension (Two Counts)

OPP officials allege: On November 20, 2022, at approximately 1:16 a.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle travelling on Eastbound on Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, after it was found speeding 132 Km/h in a posted 100 Km/h zone.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, 31-year-old of Kitchener, Ontario was charged with:

– Speeding 1 – 49 Km/h over posted limit

– Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero

Anyone charged with Drive motor vehicle – Perform Stunt receives a 14-day impoundment of the involved motor vehicle and a 30-day driver’s licence suspension as per statute.
