Chatham-Kent Police arrest suspect in Toronto car jacking investigation

Toronto Police Service officials allege: The Toronto Police Service Hold Up Squad would like to make the public aware of an arrest made in a carjacking robbery investigation.

On Monday, October 17, 2022, officers responded to a theft of vehicle call in the Wilson Avenue and Ridge Road area.

It is alleged that:

– A man was driving his vehicle when he was flagged down by a woman who asked for a cigarette

– The woman got into the vehicle and the man drove to a parking lot

– The man briefly got out of his vehicle and when he returned, the woman was sitting in the driver’s seat of
his vehicle holding a knife

– The man unsuccessfully tried to get the woman out of the vehicle

– The woman then produced a handgun

– The man backed away and the woman fled the area in his vehicle

During the investigation, the woman was identified.

Efforts to locate the woman were unsuccessful and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

On Thursday, December 1, 2022, officers from Chatham-Kent Police Service, located the woman and took her into custody.

A 24-year-old Barrie woman was charged with:

– Robbery with Firearm

– Robbery With Offensive Weapon

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over

She was scheduled to appear in court on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 10 a.m. at the Toronto North Court, 1000 Finch Avenue West, Room 306.

The victim’s stolen vehicle has been recovered.
