Christmas message from the Queen

From The Pastor’s Pen – By Brian Horrobin

Back on September 8 of this year our beloved monarch, Queen Elizabeth passed from this life to the next.

The iconic monarch has been quoted so many times throughout the years and on this blessed Christmas Day of 2022 it is appropriate to hear one of her statements made back in 2014.

Here is what she said: ‘For me, the life of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, whose birth we celebrate today, is an inspiration and an anchor in my life. A role-model of reconciliation and forgiveness, he stretched out his hands in love, acceptance, and healing. Christ’s example has taught me to seek to respect and value all people of whatever faith or none.’

What really stands out to me about our late monarch of the Commonwealth was her clear-cut declaration of faith in Jesus Christ.

She made no bones about it.

Her ability to lead and walk in wisdom was rooted deeply in her Christian faith.

Unlike so many other world leaders, many of whom became tyrannical despots, her tenure was not marred by scandal and egotism.

She steadily walked the walk of faith all those years and that pathway steered her in the right direction.

Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

We would do well to follow the queen’s sterling example.

Have a blessed Christmas today with your family and friends, and don’t forget to give yourself a gift, too: the commitment to walk by the standard of God’s Word!
