Family Day is a provincial holiday on the third Monday of February, extending the weekend for one extra day.
In 2023, Family Day is today, Monday, February 20.
In Chatham-Kent, Municipal offices and most services will be closed Monday, February 20, 2023 in recognition of Family Day.
Other services are scheduled as follows:
Cemetery Operations: Cemeteries staff will be available on call for funeral homes who are in need of at-need lot sales or interment orders.
RIDE CK: All Ride CK transit services are closed.
Emergency Services: Police, Fire and Ambulance are operational 24 hours a day, every day, and are accessible by dialling “911” for emergency calls only. The fire administration office will be closed on Monday, February 20 and will re-open on Tuesday, February 21 at 8:30am.
Arts and Culture: The Chatham-Kent Museum is open on Family Day from 11am to 4pm. All other municipal Arts and Culture venues are closed on Monday, February 20, including:
- Chatham Capitol Theatre
- Kiwanis Theatre
- CKTickets Box Office located at the Chatham Cultural Centre
- Thames Art Gallery
- ARTSpace
- The Ridge House Museum and Milner House are currently closed for the season.
Service Ontario: Both the Chatham and Dresden locations will be closed on Monday, February 20.
Entegrus and Public Utilities Commission: Entegrus and the Public Utilities Commission will be closed. The emergency call number is 519-352-6300.
The office of Fleet Services (PABC) will be closed on Monday, February 20.
Employment and Social Services: Employment and Social Services will be closed Monday, February 20. The Homeless Response Line at 519-354-6628 for homeless emergencies within Chatham-Kent is operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Housing Services: Housing Services will be closed on Monday, February 20.
EarlyON: All EarlyON programs are closed on Monday, February 20.
Libraries: All branches of the Chatham-Kent Public Library usually open on Mondays will be open Monday, February 20. Administration offices will be closed.
CK Public Health: CK Public Health will be closed on Monday, February 20. Essential after-hours Public Health services are available by calling 1-866-446-8207.
Provincial Offences Court: The Provincial Offences Court will be closed on Family Day and will re-open on Tuesday, February 21 at 8:30 a.m. Please note that during office closures fines can continue to be paid on-line at www.paytickets.ca
Pools: The Blenheim Gable Rees Rotary Pool and the Wallaceburg Sydenham Pool are open for free swims from 10:30am – 12:00pm and 1:00pm – 2:30pm on Monday, February 20.
Arenas: Ridgetown and Wallaceburg Arenas will be closed. All other arenas will be open. The February Free Skate schedule can be found at https://www.chatham-kent.ca/parks-recreation/arenas
Riverview Gardens: Reception and administrative offices will be closed February 20, but services, activities and visiting hours continue as normal. Nursing staff can be reached 24/7 by calling 519-352-4823.
Waste and Recycling: Collection services will be delayed by one day the week of February 20.

Transfer Stations: The Harwich and Wallaceburg Transfer Stations will be closed Monday, February 20. All other transfer stations will be open regular hours.
Leaf & Yard Depots: All Leaf and Yard Depots will be closed.
Chatham-Kent Tourism/Community Attraction and Promotion: CK Tourism will be closed Monday, February 20. To access visitor information at any time, please go to visitck.ca.
Some health care services offered at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s Chatham and Wallaceburg sites will be altered on Monday, February 20, 2023 in recognition of the Family Day holiday.
During the statutory holiday, some outpatient diagnostic tests will take place. Patients with scheduled diagnostic tests are advised to attend their appointments. These departments will also be staffed to meet the needs of inpatients and emergencies.
Ambulatory Care Services, Outpatient Rehabilitation Services, Pre-Surgical Screening Services, Diabetes Education Centre, the TIA and CAD Clinics, Pulmonary Function Lab, Outpatient Lab Services, Health Records and Patient Appointment Offices will be closed on Monday, February 20, 2023.
The Chatham-Kent Mental Health and Addictions Program Outpatient Department will be closed on Monday, February 20, 2023. The Rapid Access to Addiction Medicine clinic will be closed on Monday, February 20, 2023. For any immediate crisis, please call the crisis line at 1-866-299-7447 or visit your nearest Emergency Room.
Elston Pharmacy, located at the Chatham Site, will be closed on Monday, February 20, 2023.
The Oncology/Chemotherapy Department will be closed on Monday, February 20, 2023.
The Business Office and Cashier’s Office will be closed on Monday, February 20, 2023. Please note there are two bill changers in the building to accommodate change for coin.
Hemodialysis Care will be open on Monday, February 20, 2023.
The Emergency Departments at the Chatham and Wallaceburg sites will remain open 24 hours daily.
