Man arrested for intoxicated in a public place

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 12:12 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on a city bus on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Police attended and found the man intoxicated and unable to care for himself.

The 74-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and transported to police headquarters.

He was held in custody until he was sober.

Man arrested for assault with a weapon

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 7:38 p.m., police responded to Brown Street in Dresden for an assault investigation.

Through investigation, police learned the victim was conducting a well-being check on the man, who resided in the back of the property.

When doing so, the man aggressively charged at the victim with a shovel and struck them, knocking them to the ground. The victim sustained physical injury.

The 24-year-old Dresden man was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon.

He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested for assault and break and enter

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 10:23 p.m., police responded to Grand Avenue East in Chatham for an assault investigation.

Police arrived on the scene and learned the man entered the residence through a window to retrieve personal items.

A physical altercation ensued when a neighbour confronted him, resulting in the neighbour being physically injured.

The 54-year-old Windsor man was arrested and charged with breaking and entering and two counts of assault.

He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of May 15, 2023.
