Man arrested for failing to attend court
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On March 2, 2023, a warrant was issued for the man’s arrest when he failed to attend a court date.
The man had been initially charged in assault and bail violation investigations.
On April 17, 2023, at 8:41 a.m., the 41-year-old Chatham-Kent man turned himself in to the police.
He was released with a future court date of May 29, 2023.
Woman arrested for theft
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 4:10 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on the woman after receiving a call from a concerned citizen.
The citizen advised the woman was in a parking lot on King Street East.
Police arrived and located the woman.
Police confirmed she was wanted on an outstanding warrant for theft and possessing stolen property and was arrested.
The 50-year-old Chatham woman was charged and released with a future court date of May 15, 2023.
Man arrested for mischief
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 11:23 p.m., police responded to a business on Park Avenue East in Chatham for a break-and-enter investigation.
Police received information a man was observed attempting to get into the building.
Police also received a description of the man.
Police arrived on the scene and located the man.
Through surveillance footage, the man was seen driving into the business’s parking lot and possessing drills, bolt cutters, wire strippers and a flashlight.
The man could be seen using the tools to damage a vending machine and two locks.
Police also learned the man was prohibited from operating a motor vehicle.
The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters.
Once in custody, the man urinated and defecated on the floor and bench of a cell.
The 31-year-old Chatham man was charged with operating a motor vehicle while prohibited, possessing break-in instruments and two counts of mischief.
He was released with conditions and a future court date of May 15, 2023.
