Police: Domestic assault charges, warrants executed

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On April 27, 2023 at 11:07 a.m. police located a man on Murray Street in Chatham believed to have outstanding warrants.

A query of the man confirmed that he was currently wanted on two separate warrants for failing to attend court and failing to comply with his probation order.

The 43-year-old Chatham man was subsequently arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was later released on an Undertaking with a future court date.

On April 27, 2023 at 5:41 p.m., police responded to a disturbance in the area Michener Road in Chatham.

Police located one of the involved parties a short distance away on Grand Ave East, and through investigation determined that the man had an outstanding warrant with Sarnia Police Service.

The 24-year-old Sarnia man was arrested on the strength of this warrant and transported to police headquarters where he was held until Sarnia Police attended to take custody of him.

Man arrested for domestic offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On April 27, 2023 at 12:13 p.m. a female attended police headquarters to report a historical domestic related assault.

Through investigation, police formed grounds for the arrest of the victim’s boyfriend for assault and assault with a weapon.

It was determined that following a heated argument, the man had previously head-butted his girlfriend and thrown a small wooden chair at her causing it to break.

The 50-year-old Chatham man ultimately attended police headquarters at 4:24 p.m. to turn himself in after being contacted by police.

He was later released from custody on an undertaking with conditions and future court date.
