OPP: Multiple speeding charges laid in Chatham-Kent

OPP officials allege: On May 8, 2023, at approximately 4:10 p.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a motorcycle travelling on Park Avenue, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, because the driver was not wearing a helmet.

As a result of the investigation, a 44-year-old of Chatham, Ontario was charged with the following:

– Driving while under suspension (Two Counts)

– Fail to wear proper helmet on motorcycle

– Drive motor vehicle, no plates

OPP officials allege: On May 8, 2023, at approximately 8:22 p.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle travelling on the westbound Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, after it was found speeding.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 34-year-old of Windsor was charged with:

– Speeding 1 – 49 Km/h over posted limit

– Drive motor vehicle – not equipped with ignition interlock device

– Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver

– Class G1 licence holder – drive on prohibited highway

– Use plate not authorized for vehicle

– Drive motor vehicle in contravention of conditions

– Fail to surrender insurance card

– Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

OPP officials allege: On May 10, 2023, at approximately 7:26 p.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle travelling on the westbound Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, after it was found speeding.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 35-year-old of Belle River was charged with:

– Drive while under suspension

– Speeding 1 – 49 Km/h over posted limit

– Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver

– Class G1 licence holder – drive on prohibited highway

– Fail to surrender insurance card

– Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

OPP officials allege: On May 12, 2023, at approximately 9:28 a.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle travelling on the eastbound Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, following a notification from the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) System to verify the licence status of the driver.

As a result, the driver, a 21-year-old of Thamesville was charged with:
