Call for artists to take part in ‘Electrical Boxes Transformation Project’

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is looking for artists with a passion for turning ordinary spaces into extraordinary works of art.

Artists from Chatham-Kent are invited to take part in the exciting initiative ‘Electrical Boxes Transformation Project.’

Public art has the potential to motivate and connect those who encounter it, Municipal officials say.

Whether it’s abstract, contemporary, or traditional art, this initiative is designed to ignite creativity and spark joy in the hearts of those who experience it.

Artists selected will be paid $500 for their designs, which will be featured on electrical boxes throughout Chatham-Kent.

This initiative is being sponsored by the Hydro One Program, from which funds are to be used for recreation and/or arts and culture projects throughout the community.

“Chatham-Kent now, more than ever, is cementing its reputation as a forward-thinking municipality,” said Mayor Darrin Canniff, in a media release.

“I extend my gratitude to all the creative minds in CK who put their hard work and passion towards the betterment of our community. Your artistic vision and talents have the power to shape the way CK residents and beyond perceive Chatham-Kent.”

Artist must live or work in Chatham-Kent.

Designs must be submitted via Let’s Talk Chatham-Kent no later than August 24 at 4 p.m.
