‘The Gift CK’ food and toy drive returns on Saturday

The cherished annual tradition “The Gift CK” Food & Toy Drive returns Saturday, November 18, 2023.

The volunteer organization is rallying neighbourhoods across Chatham-Kent by asking them to leave donations on their doorstep.

“The Gift CK” has become a symbol of community spirit and giving back,” stated Greg Simpson, Volunteer and Pastor at St. Andrew’s United Church, in a press release.

“The Food and Toy Drive stretches across the municipality thanks to the numerous volunteers operating in the various towns and villages. We witness many faces and stories of need in our community. Every day, we see the very real challenges of food and housing insecurity that affect our neighbours.”

Simpson added: “‘The Gift’ is a powerful answer to this. With every box of food, article of clothing and each toy you donate, you are not just sharing resources but weaving a tapestry of care that wraps around our community.” “This incredible initiative is a testament to the deep well of kindness that resides in Chatham-Kent, and I am continually moved by the unwavering commitment of volunteers and the generosity of CK residents.“

The morning of Saturday, November 18, anyone with a doorstep – including businesses are encouraged to place non-perishable food items, hygiene products, new toys, or essential donations outside on their doorsteps.

Volunteers go out at noon to take care of the rest; ensuring that these contributions reach those who need them most.

For those who wish to actively participate, “The Gift CK” still needs volunteers.

Signing up at TheGiftCK.ca allows individuals to contribute their time and energy; while making a substantial difference in the lives of their Chatham-Kent neighbours.

Businesses looking to demonstrate their corporate social responsibility are also encouraged to participate as The Gift CK offers meaningful experiences for team building, and in-kind sponsorship opportunities.

Join Chatham-Kent on November 18, 2023, as the community comes together one gift at a time to create a brighter, warmer holiday season for all.
