Arson and theft charges laid at Walmart in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 4:22 p.m., police responded to Walmart on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg for an arson investigation.

Responding officers learned the woman had committed theft and was escorted out of the store.

Once outside, the woman ignited the shrubs.

The woman was found to be intoxicated and unable to care for herself.

She was arrested and transported to police headquarters.

The 41-year-old Wallaceburg woman has been charged with theft, possession of stolen property, intoxicated in a public place and arson.

She was held until she was sober.

She was released with conditions and a future court date of December 11, 2023.
