Sarnia Police Service officials allege: On January 30, 2024, the Sarnia Police Service (SPS) responded to residence after receiving information that a woman and another person had been threatened with a sawed-off shotgun.
During the incident it is alleged that the accused made threats to kill the female victim, pointed the firearm at her after placing a bullet in the firearm and threatened to shoot another person in the residence who tried to intervene.
The two victims were able to flee the residence and call police. Officers arriving on scene located the accused who was in the process of hiding the firearm outside of the residence.
The accused was arrested without further incident.
As a result of this investigation, a male resident of Sarnia has been charged with eighteen (18) criminal charges:
– Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order (x2)
– Possession of ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order (x2)
– Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
– Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose (x2)
– Assault with a Weapon (x2)
– Utter Threats to Cause Death (x2)
– Pointing a Firearm (x2)
– Using Firearm in Commission of Offence (x2)
– Possession of Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
– Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is unauthorized.
– Careless Use of Firearm
The accused has been held for a bail hearing.
As this incident was the result of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), the identity of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the victims.
