Multiple stunt driving charges laid in Chatham-Kent over the long weekend

OPP officials allege: Five individuals received a 14-day impoundment of the involved motor vehicles, a 30-day driver’s licence suspension as per statute and charges after the Ontario Provincial Police Chatham Detachment stopped multiple vehicles for stunt driving over this past long weekend.

OPP officials allege: On March 29, 2024, at approximately 7:40 a.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle that had been travelling on the westbound Highway 401 near Kenesserie Road, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, after it was found speeding more than 55 Km/h over the posted speed limit of 100 Km/h.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 43-year-old of Sarnia was charged with:

– Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – Excessive speed

– Drive motor vehicle – no currently validated permit

– Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

OPP officials allege: On March 29, 2024, at approximately 11:05 p.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle that had been travelling on the eastbound Highway 401 near the 77-Kilometer marker, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, after it was found speeding more than 75 Km/h over the posted speed limit of 100 Km/h.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 39-year-old of Windsor was charged with:

– Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – Excessive speed

– Speeding 50+ Km/h over posted limit

OPP officials allege: On March 31, 2024, at approximately 8:20 p.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle that had been travelling on the eastbound Highway 401 near the 74-Kilometer marker, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, after it was found speeding more than 50 Km/h over the posted speed limit of 100 Km/h.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 30-year-old of Scarborough was charged with:

– Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – Excessive speed

OPP officials allege: On March 31, 2024, at approximately 9:15 p.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle that had been travelling on the eastbound Highway 401 near the 74-Kilometer marker, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, after it was found speeding more than 55 Km/h over the posted speed limit of 100 Km/h.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 26-year-old of London was charged with:

– Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – Excessive speed

OPP officials allege: On March 31, 2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle that had been travelling on the eastbound Highway 401 near Queens Line, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, after it was found speeding more than 50 Km/h over the posted speed limit of 100 Km/h.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 27-year-old of North York was charged with:

– Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – Excessive speed
