Alcohol involved in a crash in St. Clair Township

OPP officials allege: On Sunday May 12, 2024, at just after 5 p.m., the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Mandaumin Road and Lasalle Line, St. Clair Township.

Lambton OPP, along with Lambton EMS and St. Clair Fire Department attended the scene.

Both drivers were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

An OPP officer upon speaking with a driver of one of the involved vehicles suspected that the driver of the vehicle had consumed alcoholic beverages.

A roadside screening device demand was made.

A 21-year-old Petrolia, Ontario man has been charged with the following:

· Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand

· Fail to Yield to Traffic on Through Highway

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice – Sarnia on June 4, 2024.

The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for a period of seven days.

The accused drivers licence has been suspended for a period of 90 days.
