Domestic violence investigation leads to dangerous operation causing bodily harm charges in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Monday, July 15th, 2024, at 10:50 p.m., Chatham-Kent Police received a 9-1-1 call, leading them to begin an investigation involving intimate partner violence in Chatham.

Through investigation, officers learned the man was in the process of transferring property over from his vehicle into his former girlfriend’s vehicle, when he suddenly took off in his vehicle, and making contact with his former girlfriend, causing her to fall down to the ground.

The 64-year-old Chatham man was subsequently located and arrested.

He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing.

He has been charged with dangerous operation causing bodily harm and failing to stop at accident resulting in bodily harm.

The female was transported to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and sustained superficial injuries to her legs.
