Traffic complaint in Chatham leads to impaired driving and drug charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 6:29 p.m., police responded to a traffic complaint on Gregory Drive near St. Clair Road in Chatham.

The vehicle was reported to be driving erratically and then parking behind a business on St. Clair Street.

Officer located the vehicle and found a woman sleeping behind the wheel.

The officer believed the woman was under the influenced of an intoxicating substance and arrested her.

She was transported to police headquarters for tests.

Upon a search incident to arrest, the woman was found in possession of suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine.

The 36-year-old Dawn Township woman was charged with impaired driving, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

She was released on conditions and a future court date of August 12, 2024.
