School Bus Safety program set for Saturday in Chatham and Sarnia

A School Bus Safety program for students from the Lambton Kent District School Board & St. Clair Catholic District School Board is set to be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024.

“As another school year begins, CLASS and the local school bus operators are preparing parents and first-time riders from JK – Grade 1 in understanding the importance of school bus safety by hosting a first-time rider orientation day on Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 8:30 am – 11:30 am at two separate locations simultaneously,” organizers say.

“Parents are encouraged to bring their children to this free session, where they will watch a brief animated school bus safety video and then have the opportunity to board a bus and go for a short ride together. Safety trainers will be onsite to talk to the children and parents about basic school bus safety rules, how to cross the street safely, and how to evacuate a bus in case of an emergency. The sessions will run continuously beginning at 9:00 am and are approximately one-half hour in duration.”

The event will be held at Great Lakes Secondary School – 340 Murphy Road, Sarnia and Ursuline College – 85 Grand Avenue West, Chatham.
