Shoplifting incident in Wallaceburg leads to a knife being brandished, several charges laid

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On August 24, 2024 the Chatham-Kent Police responded to a theft in Wallaceburg.

A 49-year-old Wallaceburg man attended a local convenience store, stole some product and fled.

An employee chased the suspect and confronted him outside.

The suspect then assaulted the employee and brandished a knife.

The suspect fled the area but was identified and arrested by responding police.

The man was charged with assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats and theft.

The man was later released on bail with conditions and a future court date.
