Arrest made after meat was stolen from a Chatham grocery store

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 4:26 p.m. a call was received from a local grocer on St. Clair Street Chatham.  

A man for the second time on the same day attempted to steal meat from the store. 

The man dropped the meat when confronted and fled in a vehicle and was stopped by the police. 

A 37-year-old man was arrested for theft. 

It was found that the male was under house arrest for previous theft charges.  

The man was taken to Chatham-Kent Headquarters and charged with theft and possession and failing to comply with his release order. 

The man was held for bail.
