Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: The Chatham-Kent Police Service has concluded a successful week-long Impaired Driving Safety Blitz, which ran from March 22 to March 31, 2025.
This initiative aimed to raise awareness and reduce impaired driving incidents through heightened enforcement, education, and community outreach.
One driver received a seven-day license suspension, and 47 motorists provided roadside breath samples using an Approved Screening Device.
One suspended driver was identified at a RIDE checkpoint, and another individual with multiple outstanding warrants was arrested. In addition, provincial offense notices were issues to several drivers over the course of the week.
The purpose of this campaign was to educate, prevent offenses, and ultimately reduce impaired driving incidents. This is a community effort, one that requires all of us to act responsibly, spread awareness, and support each other in making the choice to drive sober. It is about holding ourselves and others accountable for the safety of everyone on the road.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service is reminding drivers that impaired driving can have life-altering consequences.
What may seem like a harmless decision in the moment can result in injury, death, or long-term trauma for victims and families. If you’re on prescription or recreational drugs, know how they affect your ability to drive and take appropriate precautions. It’s not just about following the law – it’s about making the responsible choice that keeps our roads safe for everyone.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service urges all residents to plan ahead. If you intend to consume substances, designate a sober driver, call a taxi, use a rideshare service or make alternative transportation arrangements.
Let’s take action. Let’s plan ahead. Let’s keep our roads safe.
Over the course of this period, 4,737 drivers were educated by Chatham-Kent Police officers on the dangers of impaired driving. Officers made 1 arrest for impaired driving during the week, while 13 additional motorists were issued three day license suspensions.
