With peaceful but heavy hearts we announce that Lila Marie Huybers passed gracefully from this world on Thursday, April 10th, 2025 at the age of 93.
Lila was a strong independent woman who was the matriarch of the family.
She has now been reunited with her husband Tony (1990) and will be missed tremendously by her daughters Lynne and Penny and son-in-law, Robert Cornell as well as her chosen daughter Dana Tunks and her grand fur-babies Lucy and Bella.
Lila was the last surviving daughter of the late Angus and Pearl Ross and has now joined her siblings Floyd (Eileen), Gladys, Jack (Shirley), George (Dorothy), Jim (Shirley), Norma Hoffman (Walt), Harry (Carol), Glenn (Gail) and Bill (Cathy).
Over the years, Lila was known as “the Mom” to all of her daughters’ friends and will be lovingly remembered by them as well as by her many nieces, nephews and extended family, too numerous to name. To Paulina, our Mother’s Special Angel, words cannot express how appreciative we are for all the physical, emotional and spiritual care you gave during your time with her, it will never be forgotten.
Lila’s independent spirit took her from the family farm of Becher to becoming a wife and a working mom, where her family always came first. She also developed many strong friendships with her sister-in-law’s, her work colleagues, the ladies from the church and her neighbourhood. In her next stage of life as a widow, she never missed an opportunity to spend time at her daughters’ homes which also included travels to Mexico, Jamaica, cruises to Alaska and Panama and the cottage and her favourite Las Vegas.
Lila had an amazing dry sense of humour and a razor-sharp wit, where you never knew what was coming in a jaw dropping hilarious one-liner.
Family and Friends are invited to join us in celebrating her life at the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. Visitation will be held from 10am until 12:30pm, followed by a small service at 1pm and burial at Riverview Cemetery.
Following the cemetery, everyone is invited to continue celebrating with us at Mom’s favorite spot Chuck’s Roadhouse (65 McNaughton Ave).
To honour Lila’s love for pets, in lieu of flowers please consider donations to the Windsor Essex Humane Society or the Chatham Pet and Wildlife Rescue.
