Richard James ‘Ric’ McCready of Port Lambton passed away peacefully at Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital in Windsor on Monday, April 28, 2025 at the age of 71.
Ric is the son of the late David & Lola (Moreland) McCready. Beloved husband of Karen (O’Neil). Loving father of Martin McCready (Laurie) and Tasha Shaw (Rob). Beloved grandfather of Aaron, Ty, Mattie, Cody and Roewen.
Brother of Brenda Sterling (Gary), David McCready (Doris) and the late Carol Lampkin and Norma Wrightman (Delmer). Son-in-law of the late Ken & Helen O’Neil and brother-in-law to Kim O’Neil (Carol), Ken O’Neil (Trish), Kerrie Fields (Rick), Kellie Johnston, Kristine Falconer and the late Kevin O’Neil.
Ric enjoyed cruising Lake St. Clair and the river in his boat, he loved where he lived. He was an avid sports fan of hockey, football and lacrosse. A devoted fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Detroit Lions. He was a proud grandpa and when it came to his grandchildren his favourite place to be was in the stands cheering them on. Family and Friends are invited for visitation at the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 4 – 7 pm on Friday, May 2.
A celebration of Ric’s life will be held at the Canadian Belgian Dutch Club in Wallaceburg from 3-5 on Saturday, May 10 with words of remembrance at 4 pm.
