Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Canada Road Safety Week is currently underway and runs from May 13-19, 2025.
This seven-day national campaign aims to make Canada’s roads the safest in the world.
The annual awareness initiative is designed to increase public compliance with safe driving practices to save lives and reduce injuries on Canada’s roads.
The campaign continues to focus on eliminating impaired, distracted driving, aggressive driving, and driving without a seatbelt.
Several Traffic Enforcement initiatives were conducted by CKPS Traffic unit and front patrol officers throughout the Municipality within the last 24 hours.
– RIDE, Main Street, Ridgetown 11:33 p.m. A total of 40 vehicles were checked. There were no infractions or warnings.
– RIDE, Fifth Street, Chatham 1:20 a.m. A total of 18 vehicles were checked. There was 1 refusal arrest.
– RIDE, Murray Street, Wallaceburg 10:21 p.m. A total of 135 vehicles were checked, 1 ASD test was administered which resulted in 1 Over 80 arrest. Officers issued 6 Highway Traffic Act Warnings.
