Mischief charges laid after a window was broken at a Chatham pharmacy

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On May 15, 2025, at approximately 2:44 p.m., police responded to a disturbance at a local pharmacy in Chatham.

Upon arrival, officers located a 21-year-old male from Chatham who had sustained lacerations to his hand.

He was arrested for mischief after being observed breaking a window at the business.

Further investigation revealed that the individual was in violation of court-ordered conditions not to communicate with or be near a 26-year-old female from Chatham.

These conditions stemmed from a previous intimate partner violence (IPV) charge.

Additionally, according to witness statements and video evidence, the accused initiated a verbal altercation with the victim and was seen as agitated and yelling before punching the front glass door of the pharmacy, causing it to break.

Security footage also revealed that the accused struck the glass several times before fleeing the scene.

The accused was arrested by the Chatham-Kent Police service and is currently being held for bail.

He is facing the following charges:

– Count 1: Fail to comply with undertaking

– Count 2: Mischief
