Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: The Chatham-Kent Police Service participated in Canada Road Safety Week from May 13 to May 19, 2025.
This seven-day national campaign is dedicated to making Canada’s roads safer by encouraging responsible driving habits, saving lives, and reducing injuries.
The campaign focused on eliminating impaired, distracted, and aggressive driving, as well as the failure to wear seatbelts.
Throughout the campaign, the Chatham-Kent Police Service laid a total of 295 provincial offence notices, and 4 Criminal Code offences were issued to drivers across the municipality. In addition, 11 RIDE programs were conducted, stopping 1,099 vehicles.
The following charges and offences were issued during the campaign:

1 drug-impaired driving charge
1 over .80 charge
1 refusal
220 speeding
7 electronic device charges
2 careless driving charges
6 seatbelt charges
60 other Highway Traffic Act charges
