The Chatham Jr. Maroons are inviting fans to paint the town maroon next month as they celebrate their 2025 GOJHL Sutherland Cup championship with a parade and rally in their hometown.
The festivities are set for Saturday, June 8, with a championship parade kicking off at 2 p.m. The route will begin at Elm and Queen streets, proceeding south down Queen before turning right onto Tweedsmuir Avenue and ending at the Chatham Memorial Arena.
The event will culminate in a community rally in the arena’s parking lot, where fans will have the chance to see the Sutherland Cup and the Western Conference trophy up close. Attendees can also look forward to live interviews with Maroons players and coaches, remarks from Chatham-Kent Mayor Darrin Canniff, and a ceremonial greeting from town crier George Sims.
In true championship fashion, limited-edition Sutherland Cup merchandise will be available on site for fans eager to show off their Maroons pride.
The Maroons’ 2025 title marks a high point for the storied franchise and the broader Chatham-Kent community. Organizers are encouraging fans of all ages to bring their voices, wear their colours, and help celebrate the team’s hard-fought victory.
