Cyclist arrested after a piece of watermelon was tossed into a vehicle in Sarnia

Sarnia Police Service officials allege: On May 26th, 2025 at 9:40am, the Sarnia Police Service responded to a weapons call on Bright Street in the City of Sarnia.

A dispute between the driver of a motor vehicle and a cyclist commenced when the cyclist was driving down the middle of the roadway impeding traffic.

After honking at the cyclist, the cyclist threw a piece of watermelon inside the vehicle striking a passenger of the vehicle in the head.

The driver of the motor vehicle then got out of the vehicle and confronted the cyclist.

The cyclist responded by producing a knife and threatening the driver with it.

The cyclist then began advancing towards the driver in a threatening manner.

The driver of the vehicle grabbed an object to protect himself and the cyclist fled the area.

The Sarnia Police Service located the cyclist a short distance away and arrested him.

A 58-year-old man of no fixed address, has been charged with the following offences:

– Assault with a Weapon (2 counts)

– Fail to Comply with Probation

– Possession of Dangerous Weapon
