Sarnia Police Service officials allege: On May 26, 2025, at approximately 5:40 a.m., the Sarnia Police Service received a report from a local homeowner who believed individuals were attempting to break into his residence. While the homeowner hid inside, officers were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, police observed that the front door had been forced open and entry had been gained. Three suspects exited the residence and were taken into custody, while a fourth individual fled on foot.
During the arrest, one of the suspects became aggressive toward police. A Taser was deployed to gain compliance and ensure the arrest could be safely completed. The three individuals arrested include a 46-year-old male from Queen Street in Sarnia, a 38-year-old male with no fixed address, and a 34-year-old male, also of no fixed address. Each was charged in relation to the break and enter, including property damage offences. The 38-year-old was additionally charged for breaching probation conditions, and the 34-year-old faced an additional charge for resisting a police officer.
Later that same day, a resident from the 200 block of Brock Street South attended the Sarnia Police Service with video footage showing a male stealing items from a parked vehicle. The suspect in the video was identified by officers as the same 38-year-old male arrested earlier that morning. He was seen wearing the same clothing at both scenes. The reported theft involved several thousand dollars’ worth of fishing equipment. As a result, further charges of theft under $5,000 and an additional breach of probation were laid against him.
All three individuals were held in custody for bail hearings. Meanwhile, police continue to seek the identity of the fourth suspect who fled the residence on foot.
