London police seize record fentanyl haul

London Police Service officials allege: London police say the largest fentanyl seizure in the city’s history has led to charges against four men following coordinated raids in London, Toronto and Hamilton.

The investigation, led by the London Police Service’s Guns and Gangs Section, involved multiple tactical units from across Ontario, including the OPP and police services in Hamilton and Toronto. Officers executed six search warrants on April 29, 2025, targeting addresses in London, North York and Hamilton.

Police say the operation resulted in the seizure of over 34 kilograms of fentanyl, valued at more than $2.7 million, along with 4.6 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, nearly half a kilogram of cocaine, five illegal firearms — including a semi-automatic Draco pistol — and a silencer. Officers also seized extended capacity magazines, drum magazines, ammunition and nearly 18 kilograms of cutting agents used to dilute street drugs.

In addition to the narcotics and weapons, authorities confiscated roughly $253,000 in Canadian and U.S. currency. Six vehicles were also seized, four as offence-related property and two as proceeds of crime.

“Today’s announcement highlights the critical importance of strong enforcement and community collaboration in addressing the opioid crisis and associated violence in our community,” said London police chief Thai Truong. “This investigation has resulted in the largest fentanyl seizure in the history of our police service, along with the seizure of illegal firearms, significantly disrupting drug trafficking and violence in London. Community safety remains a shared responsibility, and together we will continue our efforts to reduce harm, prevent violence, and protect lives.”

The four accused face a combined list of charges including possession of restricted firearms, possession of loaded firearms, careless storage, and multiple counts of drug trafficking. Two of the accused face additional charges for breaching firearm prohibition orders.

Following their arrests, all four individuals were held in custody. Two have since been released with future court dates set in May and June, while the others remain in custody pending further court appearances.

Police are asking anyone with information related to the case to contact the London Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
