
The Wallaceburg Branch of the Chatham-Kent Public Library is ready to keep the community engaged all summer long with a wide variety of free events and programs for kids, families, and adults.
Summer Reading Launch – June 27
The TD Summer Reading Club officially launches on Friday, June 27 during regular library hours. Registration begins that day and continues throughout the summer.
Running alongside the club is Read to Ride, a special contest from June 27 to August 30. Children entering grades 1 to 4 will earn one ballot per book read for a chance to win a new bike and helmet, generously sponsored by the Knights of Pythias.
Special Summer Events
A series of creative and interactive programs will be offered throughout July and August:
Family Storytime runs every Wednesday from July 9 to August 20 at 10:30 a.m. This drop-in event features stories, songs and rhymes for children aged two and up, along with their caregivers.
Landmarks of the World – July 13 at 2:30 p.m. Explore famous landmarks and build a replica using Strawbees. Open to all ages; no registration required.
Ocean Collage – July 10 at 2:30 p.m. Children aged six and up can make ocean-themed art using torn paper collage. Registration required.
Tourist Attraction BINGO – July 15 at 2:30 p.m. Enjoy classic BINGO fun with prizes. Open to all ages; no registration required.
Our Band – July 22 at 2:30 p.m. Kids of all ages are invited to make their own musical instruments and play together. Registration required.
Mario Kart Tournament – July 29 at 2:30 p.m. Compete for prizes in a high-speed video game showdown. Ages six and up. Registration required.
Will it Sink or Float? – August 7 at 2:30 p.m. Build boats from recycled materials and test their floatability. Best for ages six and up. Registration required.
Dan the Music Man – August 14 at 2:30 p.m. Enjoy a high-energy concert by one of Canada’s favourite family entertainers. Free tickets available starting July 17; space is limited.
Hot Air Balloon – August 19 at 2:30 p.m. Kids six and up can learn paper-mâché and create colourful hot air balloon decorations. Registration required.
Ongoing Programs
The Knitting and Crochet Club meets every Thursday from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. All skill levels are welcome. Drop in to learn, share patterns, and connect with fellow crafters.
