Joint forces traffic safety initiative held in Lambton County

OPP officials allege: On July 10, 2025, Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) and Sarnia Police Service, took part in a joint forces traffic safety initiative.

The enforcement initiative focused on commercial motor vehicles inspections, ensuring compliance with traffic laws, and promoting road safety for all motorists. These coordinated efforts are aimed at identifying unsafe vehicles and drivers, reducing collision risks, and reinforcing the importance of following Ontario’s traffic regulations.

During the initiative, officers conducted 19 commercial motor vehicle inspections.

As a result, 22 commercial motor vehicle charges were laid for violations, including:

– Use plates not authorized

– Drive – hand-held communication device

– No Commercial Vehicle Operator Registration (CVOR)

– Driver – fail to properly wear seatbelt

Commercial motor vehicles are a vital part of our economy, but when not operated safely, they pose serious risks to all road users. Inspections help ensure drivers are properly licensed, loads are secure, and vehicles are mechanically fit.

Traffic safety is everyone’s responsibility.

The Lambton OPP remains committed to working with policing and transportation partners to enhance roadway safety.
