The Orville Wright Pool reopened Wednesday afternoon for its scheduled 1:30 p.m. recreational swim after being temporarily closed due to incidents of aggression directed at municipal staff.
Chatham-Kent Recreation Services said the closure was necessary while the matter was investigated in coordination with the Chatham-Kent Police Service. Officials confirmed those responsible have been identified.
“The community is reminded that disrespectful, threatening, and aggressive actions towards municipal staff will not be tolerated,” the municipality said in a release. “All pool users must adhere to the rules of the pool and instructions from municipal staff.”
The municipality thanked residents for their patience during the closure and emphasized its commitment to providing a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment at all aquatic facilities.
